Ballard extends Pluto prospect with high-grade gold discovery

Ballard Mining has announced strong, high-grade gold results from recent drilling at the Pluto prospect, part of the Mt Ida gold project in Western Australia.

Recent results from the prospect, north of Baldock, returned results including 5m at 10.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 98m, 7m at 3.7g/t gold from 19m and 1m at 13.8g/t gold from 76 metres.

“We are pleased to confirm Pluto as our third regional discovery at Mt Ida, in addition to the previously announced Neptune and Ayla discoveries,” Ballard managing director Paul Brennan said in a statement.

“These latest regional assay results continue to highlight the potential for multiple high-grade open pit ore sources to complement the more than one million ounce baseload mineral resource estimate at Baldock.”

Ballard has used drilling as a key part of its dual stream resource growth and project development strategy for this year and is looking to extend Baldock’s mineral resource estimate further.

Drilling took place between April and May along what is known as the Ballard Fault Line at West Knell (comprising of the Ayla and Europa prospects) as well as Neptune and Golden Vale.

Exploration activity consisted of 131 drill holes for over 11,000 metres.

It’s understood more drilling will take place to further enhance Ballard’s portfolio, continuing early-stage exploration where work is centred on refining geological models and identifying drill-ready targets
