Ballard Mining (ASX:BM1) is wasting no time proving up its high-grade Mount Ida gold project after its $28m IPO in July.

Spun out of Delta Lithium, which still holds 46%, the $140m explorer-developer is drilling hard at its flagship Baldock deposit, already 930,000oz at 4.1g/t, on the way to a maiden reserve this time next year.

Managing director Paul Brennan says the dual-track strategy of infill and extensional drilling is designed to underpin a 5–6 year mine life, with regional exploration to extend that towards the magic 10-year mark needed for standalone production.
